- ➤ On Wednesday, the Ohio Senate passed Senate Bill 158 by a vote of thirty to two—sending it to the Ohio House for a policy that would ban student cellphone use during the school day by Sept. 1 except for health concerns or emergency situations. Stark County Sen. Jane Timken introduced the bill and Gov. Mike DeWine backed it while two state senators opposed it. WKYC

- ➤ Starting May 19, motorists in Stark County will face lane restrictions on Tuscarawas Street W and Market Avenue N in Canton for resurfacing work expected to finish in July, and on Lincoln Way W in Massillon with work ending in late August. Ramps at the I-77 and State Route 800 interchange will be closed through early June — a detour via Shepler Church Avenue, Dueber Avenue and Mill Street SW is in place, with more details available from the Canton Engineering Department at 330-489-3370.
