- ➤ The Basilica of St. John and St. Peter Church will provide a free carryout-only ham dinner on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (at St. John Hall, 717 McKinley Ave NW). The Repository

- ➤ A fire destroyed a maintenance building at St. Isidore Parish in Nimishillen Township on Dec. 18 — the church remained unharmed with no injuries reported and temporary bathrooms will be set up for Mass. The Repository

- ➤ The Stark Building Industry Association held its Holiday Open House at La Pizzaria on Dec. 5 and named Preston Roseman the 2026 president while honoring top builders & suppliers. The group celebrated a year of rising local construction activity as materials prices and interest rates declined. The Repository
- ➤ On Dec. 19, 2025, United Steelworkers Local 1123 in Canton rejected a second tentative labor agreement with Metallus; the current contract for about 1,200 workers was extended to Jan. 29 and the company said it will continue negotiations for better conditions. The Repository

- ➤ Peter Billingsley, known for his role in A Christmas Story, will appear at Canton Palace Theatre on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. for a screening and Q&A session, with tickets ranging from $34 to $78; VIP add-ons cost $109 (including a meet and greet, photo opportunity, and autographed poster).
