- ➤ Alliance Salvation Army received a printed Christmas letter — a heartfelt note that everything will be okay — attached to an Angel Tree donation from a local McDonald's. Families will pick up gifts by appointment Dec. 17-19 as the ministry helps nearly 800 children this season. The Repository

- ➤ HOF Resort & Entertainment Co. reported a Q3 net loss of $14.36 million on Dec. 15 and said its planned merger to go private remains pending. The company is seeking additional financing to support development of Hall of Fame Village in downtown Canton. The Repository
- ➤ The state awarded Atlantic Fish & Distributing Co. a $1 million low-interest loan on Dec. 16 to renovate its new 150,000 sqft warehouse in Green. The project, exceeding $12 million, created 15 new jobs and retained 163 roles according to the Ohio Department of Development. The Repository

- ➤ Athens Restaurant, a long-standing local eatery known for serving Canton's first gyro, will close its doors on Dec. 24 as owner Dee Dwyer prepares to spend more time with her family. Customers with gift cards should use them before the restaurant ends its 50-year run at its current location. The Repository
- ➤ ArtsinStark and Visit Canton launched Art Detour to bring art to new areas in Stark County. Nine Fairless students are working with a professional artist on a sculpture representing Brewster, Navarre, Beach City + Wilmot; the final theme will be revealed on Jan. 6 with an unveiling planned in May. - ➤ Local sports voters can choose the Stark County High School Athlete of the Week from nominees at schools like Alliance, Central Catholic, and others for Dec. 8-14 (the poll is open until 5 p.m. Thursday) and winners will be announced Friday morning on CantonRep.com. The Repository
- ➤ Quarterback Philip Rivers returned after 1,800 days and lost his 2026 Hall of Fame semifinalist spot when the Colts activated him on Dec. 14 + that resets his eligibility to the Class of 2031. He is set to start on Monday Night Football on Dec. 22. The Repository
