COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Canton Out of Canton will host its sixth annual Warren 'Speedy' Pyles grocery giveaway at St. Paul AME Church on Dec. 13 at 11 a.m.—supplies will be given out until they run out.  The Repository
  • The Perry Rotary Club and Operation: Flags of Freedom — local groups with deep roots in our area — will host the sixth annual Wreaths Across America ceremony at noon Dec. 13 at Calvary Cemetery in Perry Township to honor deceased military veterans. Volunteers may purchase a wreath for $17 as organizers plan to adorn nearly 2,300 gravesites.  The Repository

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Minerva Elementary School was honored by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce for its work with the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports program and received the PBIS Silver Award as one of 129 recognized schools for promoting a safe — responsible — respectful learning environment. Principal Becky Miller said the staff was proud of the achievement and committed to fostering a nurturing learning space.  The Repository

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Workers at Ohio Christmas Factory in Canton completed $400k—$500k in updates ahead of its opening on Nov. 28th, adding new props, sets and a walk-in gingerbread house to the 60,000-square-foot holiday attraction at 4125 Mahoning Road NE. The venue operates on Nov. 28th—30th and select dates through Dec. 23rd, offering family-friendly displays, a Christmas light show and North Pole Tavern for guests of all ages.  The Repository
  • A new video tour showcases the best hiking spots in Northeast Ohio—featuring Nelson-Kennedy Ledges, Mohican State Park and Dundee Falls. The tour highlights the unique terrain and scenic views available to local outdoor enthusiasts.  The Repository

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ohio high school football semifinal games were played Friday, November 28 across the state and the winners will travel to Canton—where championship games are scheduled in early December at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.  The Repository
  • Lakewood St. Edward and Indian Valley reached the OHSAA state semifinals in high school football. Fans can watch the St. Edward game on Spectrum News 1—with streaming on the Spectrum News App and OHSAA.tv—while the Indian Valley matchup is available online.  The Repository
  • The Indian Valley Braves and Glenville clashed in the Division IV state semifinal on November 28, with the winning team set to advance to the state championship in Canton—both teams faced bitter cold during the game. Star players Grady Kinsey and Cincere Johnson, finalists for the 2025 Ohio Mr. Football Award, made key plays that helped define the match.  The Repository
