- ➤ Canton Township and Canton Local Schools will host the Community Holiday Parade and Winterfest on Dec. 6 with 77 parade units starting at 4:30 p.m. at 45th Street and Ridge Avenue and ending at Southgate Commons, and Winterfest will follow at Faircrest Park at 6:30 p.m. with live music, food trucks, and Santa Claus — a growing tradition that will include a tree-lighting ceremony — marking the event's expansion. - ➤ Homeowners can lower heating costs by sealing air leaks, using smart thermostat settings and installing energy efficient products to keep warm this winter—advice shared by the Building Industry Association of Stark & East Central Ohio. - ➤ The Massillon Tigers were the only Stark County team in the OHSAA regional finals on Nov. 21 while Northeast Ohio teams advanced in the playoffs with semifinal pairings set for Nov. 28. - ➤ High school athletes from Hoover, Lake and Massillon were voted Stark County’s top performers in girls tennis, girls volleyball and defensive football this fall—Ayla Filisky of Lake, Addison Sheil of Hoover, and Ja'Dyn Williams of Massillon received 56.95%, 58.03% and 48.04% of the 92,325 total votes.
