- ➤ Meteorologist Mark Johnson returns to Q92 FM in Alliance as the daily forecaster and will also provide weather reports on WKYC Channel 3 in Cleveland this week—he rejoined after a six-month break and is set to help prepare the area for a snowy winter. The Repository
- ➤ Margaret DeLillo-Storey, a counselor at Perry Local Schools, was named Stark County Veteran of the Year for 2025 by the Veterans Service Commission. She served in the Army for 23 years, including during Operation Desert Storm—and her award honors her lifelong dedication to service in Canton—while she continues to support veterans as a mental health counselor. - ➤ The McKinley Museum saw visitor numbers rise in 2025 thanks to new interactive exhibits and the special 'Merry Christmas Charlie Brown' show on view until Jan 31 — its enhanced membership programs and strategic marketing drove over 40,260 visitors by mid-October — and it is set to exceed pre-pandemic records. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ohio SNAP recipients will receive partial payments starting Nov. 12—most will get less than 65% of their usual benefits, officials said. The state will also allocate up to $25 million to support food banks and low-income families amid ongoing legal challenges. The Repository
- ➤ The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said it will start issuing partial SNAP benefits as early as Wednesday as new USDA rules require most households to receive less than 65% of their normal aid during the shutdown. Payments will be made daily until all approved recipients receive their adjusted amounts—official notices will explain the new benefit calculations. WKYC
- ➤ Canton opened a warming center at 8 p.m. November 10 in the McKinley Room lobby at 1101 Market Ave. N—residents could warm up until it closed at 8 a.m. November 11 as a response to a sharp drop in real-feel temperature, with SARTA route 108 offering free rides to the Civic Center and city dispatch available for rides outside normal hours.
