ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Monday night, a fire damaged an outdoor replica exhibit featuring a Vietnam-era Mobile Army Surgical Hospital and two museum windows at MAPS Air Museum (on Akron-Canton Airport property) in Summit County, with first responders controlling the blaze by 11:47 p.m. and an investigation into the cause underway. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ The North Canton Chamber of Commerce will host Barrels & Ballads, a winter wine and whiskey event on November 14 at North Canton Eagles Club in Jackson Township. The event will feature live music by The Highway Boys (a Zach Bryan tribute band) along with whiskey and wine tastings and food offerings. The Repository
- ➤ Family Farm & Home is set to expand in Stark County with two new stores opening in the coming months. The Jackson Township location at Springbrook Plaza will have a ribbon-cutting at 8 a.m. on November 11 (with a dog adoption event on November 15), while a new Canton store under construction will begin hiring in January and is expected to open in March or April. - ➤ Voters in Alliance City School District chose from five candidates for three board seats in the Nov. 4 election, with early unofficial results showing Kinser, Koch and Caserta leading. In Marlington, six candidates competed for three school board positions, and incumbents held narrow leads as voting concluded. The Repository
- ➤ Voters in West Branch reshaped the school board in the Nov 4 election by choosing at least three new first-time candidates for the three open seats and setting winners for four-year terms. Interim board member Deborah Helm fought to keep her seat in a contest against Svetlana Herron — a race occurring amid recent local concerns over potential conflicts of interest. The Repository

- ➤ Former two-term Canton Mayor Sam Purses died at 83 on Oct. 28 after an extended illness—he served from 1984 to 1991 and is remembered for bringing minor-league sports and city improvements to Canton. - ➤ The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is reviewing SNAP benefit calculations and will notify recipients when they receive half their usual food stamp benefits for November following USDA guidance—after benefits were paused on Nov. 1 due to a federal shutdown. The Repository
- ➤ Salco Machine will leave Louisville for more space when it moves into a 28,000-square-foot warehouse on West Main Street in Alliance around March 2026—City Council approved an $840,550 loan to cover renovations, and the company will add 20 to 25 high-paying jobs within three years.
