- ➤ Many events are planned in the Canton area from Halloween to mid-November, including a costume bar crawl with a Rocky Horror Picture Show screening on Oct. 31, the 52nd Christkindl Markt at the Canton Museum of Art on Nov. 7–8, an Italy-themed art show in Minerva, a Big Collectibles Show at MAPS Air Museum on Oct. 31–Nov. 1, and a Phantom of the Opera tribute on Nov. 2 at the Palace Theatre—further events include a JD Eicher concert in Massillon on Nov. 6, NEOPro Wrestling on Nov. 15 at The Kingdom Center, a Charlie Brown exhibition at McKinley Library starting Nov. 1, and a Sanctus Real concert on Nov. 16 with a community impact awards gala on Nov. 15. - ➤ GlenOak head football coach Scott Garcia announced his retirement today after 17 years leading the team to 93 wins and 11 state playoff appearances; he thanked coaches, players and families (and school officials) for their support and said he is ready for new challenges. The Repository
- ➤ Canton McKinley lost a close 21-14 game to Massillon on Oct 25, but Coach Renzy Parnell said the team will not let one loss stop their playoff push. The Bulldogs will play next week at Benson Stadium—while Lake uses a bye week to help injured players like Justin Landes heal. The Repository
- ➤ Ten Stark County-area teams with 83 runners overall will compete in the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Fortress Obetz near Columbus—this meet will mark the first time state champions are named in four divisions. The top 30 finishers in each race will earn All-Ohio honors. The Repository
- ➤ Jackson High School's Polar Bears rallied from a one-set deficit twice on Oct 29 — with Taylor Brownsword leading the comeback win — and secured their 20th win before preparing to face Mentor at 2 p.m. on Nov 1 for a state tournament berth. The Repository
