- ➤ American Legion Post 166 donated $5,000 to the American Red Cross for its free smoke alarm program in Alliance. The donation was made Oct 24 during a ceremony with Alliance Mayor Andy Grove and Fire Chief Jason Hunt and will fund a door-to-door campaign to install 200 lithium battery smoke alarms in high-risk older neighborhoods—mainly in the city's north end. - ➤ Stark Parks honored volunteers at a dinner at Sippo Lake Park to celebrate almost 13,000 hours of service in 2025 — the event recognized helpers who keep parks, lakes and trails clean and safe for everyone.
