American Legion Post 166 donated $5,000 to the American Red Cross for its free smoke alarm program in Alliance.

The donation was made Oct 24 during a ceremony with Alliance Mayor Andy Grove and Fire Chief Jason Hunt and will fund a door-to-door campaign to install 200 lithium battery smoke alarms in high-risk older neighborhoods—mainly in the city's north end.
