- ➤ The annual Beat McKinley parade is set to kick off at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 in downtown Massillon along Lincoln Way from Eighth Street NE to First Street NW, with the road closed before and during the event—detour signs will guide drivers as the parade ends near the Recreation Center. The Repository
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ State Trooper Nicholas “Nicky” Cayton—born in Canton—died on Oct. 16 when his cruiser was hit by a big truck while he helped a disabled vehicle on State Route 11; his memorial service on Oct. 22 at the Beeghly Center honored his selfless service and was attended by family and public officials. - ➤ Medina police confirmed that a missing 3-year-old girl, last seen in the 7600 block of Hunter Drive in Lafayette Township wearing pink and white Minnie Mouse pajamas, was found safe and reunited with her family after she went missing Wednesday afternoon — community tips helped in the search. - ➤ FOX 8 has released a list of haunted houses that will run this fall in Northeast Ohio—each offering different scares for thrill-seekers. Options include Mansfield Reformatory and Canton’s Stark County Fairgrounds where Carnival of Horrors will operate through November 1. FOX 8
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Stark high school seniors painted their parking spaces with creative designs that show off their personalities and school spirit—at Canton South and several local schools, students paid a fee that helped fund the restoration of the spots after the school year ends. The Repository
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Downtown Canton Partnership supports the parks levy on the November ballot and urges local voters to approve Issue 8 to fund improvements for Canton Parks and Recreation. The measure is meant to maintain and enhance park facilities that serve as vital community spaces. The Repository
- ➤ State officials announced on Tuesday that the Division of Cannabis Control recalled some THC gummies from dispensaries across Ohio— including locally sold products— after it was found that the gummies did not feature the universal THC symbol, posing a risk of accidental ingestion. Customers who purchased the recalled products, sold between Jan. 14 and Oct. 21, can return them for a refund. FOX 8

- ➤ The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced a list of 52 modern-era players for the Class of 2026—this list includes first-year eligibles like Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and Eli Manning, along with local nominees Lomas Brown and London Fletcher for enshrinement next August in Canton.
