COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Stark County communities have set trick-or-treat times for Halloween — Canton, East Canton and several townships hold events from 3 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 26, while Brewster, Alliance, Canal Fulton and others feature events on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31. Families can use these schedules to plan a safe and fun evening.  The Repository
  • The North Canton Ministerial Association rebooted in 2023 and now partners with local churches to support community members facing food insecurity and homelessness. Rev. Steve Cope said the group works with the school district CARE Team and other partners—such as Rotary Club and Domestic Violence Project—to fill gaps left by local government services.  The Repository

HEALTH NEWS

  • Stewart’s Caring Place in Canton offers free support services for all cancer journeys by providing beauty programs, cooking classes, financial and legal consultations, and various support groups—helping patients, families, and caregivers manage the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. The wellness centers aim to ensure no one faces these challenges alone.  The Repository

SPORTS NEWS

  • Justus Detter from Perry won the boys race and Lucy Sveda from Green won the girls race at the Federal League Cross Country Championships on Oct. 11 at Jackson Memorial Middle School’s course (Sveda became the first Green girl to win a league title and Detter is Perry’s first winner since 2008).  The Repository
  • Mount Union beat Wilmington 59-0 on Oct. 11 with a strong defense that forced five turnovers and rushed for 419 yards—Kaleb Brown made key plays during the game. In another contest, Tiffin beat Walsh 54-7 as early scoring set the pace and Walsh managed only one touchdown from Jake Gill.  The Repository
