- ➤ Canton Ballet starts its 60th season on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Gervasi Vineyard with Ballet Excel Ohio in a one-hour show called One Stage, Two Legacies—on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m., the company will perform Peter and the Wolf with the Canton Symphony Orchestra at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall using new costumes from The Hoover Foundation. - ➤ A new documentary film—Ohio: Wild at Heart—will debut in theaters in October and is narrated by Archie Griffin to showcase Ohio’s natural wonders and conservation efforts. The film, over a year in production, highlights projects like reintroduced bald eagles and restored rivers with an educator’s guide tied to state standards. The Repository
- ➤ Factory of Terror in Canton has unveiled new scare zones such as a caretaker’s cottage and clown room along with an extraction area that features intense effects—owner John Eslich said he invested $1.2 million to boost the Halloween experience, and visitors have seen these upgrades since the Sept. 20 opening. The attraction, which uses 130 actors to create fear, will run into early November with set hours on select days. The Repository

- ➤ Project REBUILD in Canton is enrolling young people ages 16 to 24 for its YouthBuild program, which will begin Oct. 13th and offer paid training and hands-on construction skills—blending education, mentoring and labor experience to prepare them for future work. The Repository

- ➤ Plain Township trustees are planning a fireworks show to celebrate America's 250th birthday next July and are discussing a potential $5,000 contribution from the Stark Community Jaycees—local groups like the Rotary Club and the Historical Society may also help while two sites are being considered. - ➤ Austin-Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation trustees approved $197,400 in grants and scholarships to 12 organizations and 9 schools to support health programs in Holmes, Stark, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties — including local groups like Adaptive Sports Ohio and Stark Community Support Network.
