- ➤ Alliance Veterans Council will hold a program for National POW/MIA Recognition Day on September 21 at Memorial Park in Alliance starting at 3 p.m. The event will feature keynote speaker De Ann M. Williams and remarks by Frank Barnes and Mayor Andy Grove (it will honor local veterans Thomas Mangino and Army Cpl. Nathanel Thomas and include a firing by honor guard, taps, and echo). - ➤ United Way of Greater Stark County started its 2025-2026 campaign at Walsh University’s Barrette Center on Sept 11 — the drive aimed to fight child poverty with a goal to raise $4.527 million. More than 200 people attended and the group highlighted how it helped children in need last year. The Repository

- ➤ At Lake High School, star Ty DeGeorge broke his ankle in a 34-28 win last week and doctors said it was a clean break with no tendon damage so he is expected to recover in 8–9 weeks—meaning he will miss the rest of the season.
