- ➤ Canton Fire Department will host its annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Sept 11 at McKinley National Memorial with the climb starting at 8 a.m. and ending around 10:30 a.m.—it honors first responders and service members who sacrificed on that day. The Repository
- ➤ Jackson Township will hold its third Oktoberfest and Fall Festival on Sept. 20 at the Nash Family Jackson Amphitheater—running from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.—and it will feature live music, food and a Biergarten with craft beer, wine and cider along with family-friendly activities. The Repository

- ➤ A fired Canton police officer will be reinstated with back pay after an arbitrator ruled his use of his police dog during a May 30, 2024 arrest was within department policy— the city said it will appeal the ruling. The Repository
- ➤ Drivers in Summit County will face sobriety checkpoints this weekend as the OVI Task Force conducts a crackdown on drinking and driving from Friday, Sept. 12 until early Saturday morning—an effort led by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and local police to cut alcohol-related crashes. FOX 8

- ➤ Canton officials extended the tax break for Onesto Lofts by 20 years to help developer Steve Coon refinance and support new projects; the 12‐story building at 200 Cleveland Ave. NW now has 42 apartments and an events center—Councilman Frank Morris III opposed the extension because it means less tax revenue for the local school district.
