- ➤ Lottery officials announced that the Powerball jackpot is now estimated at $1.3 billion — the fifth-largest prize in the game’s history — after no ticket matched all six numbers. Three tickets sold in Ohio from Canton, Akron and Brunswick won $150K when matching four numbers with the Power Play multiplier and the drawing is held today. FOX 8
- ➤ A Stark County lottery player won $150,000 in the Sept. 1 Powerball draw with a ticket bought at Giant Eagle on Raff Road—tickets in Akron and Brunswick also earned $150,000 by matching four numbers plus the Powerball with power play. - ➤ Under a new federal budget signed in July, Ohio cut SNAP benefits and added work requirements that went into effect on Sept 1, leaving vulnerable groups with less help. Food banks and county governments warned that the cuts and a 25% drop in state food program funding — which adds nearly $400 million in annual costs — will hurt many households in the coming months.
