CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police released investigative reports detailing the murder of 26-year-old drag performer Ryan Godbey, whose last known sighting was after leaving a nightclub on June 19 and whose apartment showed signs of a violent struggle with blood, bleach bottles, and gloves, while Daniel Mattay was charged with murder and related crimes—and the family offered a $15,000 reward for any information leading to his remains. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Massillon City Schools will open two new elementary schools on September 2 with a ribbon cutting and open house on August 24—students from three older buildings will benefit from improved safety and easier transportation. The $45 million project was partly funded by the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. The Repository
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ ODNR's Division of Wildlife asked residents to report sightings of dead or sick deer showing signs of epizootic hemorrhagic disease, with most cases recently noted in Athens and Washington counties. Officials advise not to kill or eat affected deer — the virus does not affect humans and is spread by midges. FOX 8
