COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Stark County residents will join the annual Walk for Suicide Awareness on Sept. 7 at Petros Lake Park and Trails in Perry Township to honor those lost and support mental wellness. Pre-walk activities start at 9:30 a.m. and opening remarks will begin at 10 a.m.—the free event welcomes anyone affected by suicide. The Repository
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Northwest Local Schools started the new school year with a ban on student cell phone use during school hours as required by House Bill 250 and is enforcing strict rules for violations. The district will expand its Spanish program to primary students, begin construction on a new high school addition for sports and arts, and introduce new staff appointments. The Repository

- ➤ Joshua Sauder, who tried to run for North Canton Council, was taken off the November ballot because he did not sign the statement of candidacy and his petition was short on valid signatures—four local option petitions also did not meet signature requirements.
