- ➤ Ken Ganley Automotive Group acquired all six Sarchione auto dealerships—including the used luxury car gallery in Jackson Township—after months of negotiations that closed on July 3. The Sarchione family will continue to operate the dealerships under Ken Ganley’s leadership. The Repository
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Canton police charged a woman's mother and stepfather with murder after Ayla Mangan was fatally stabbed on July 10 just after 9:30 a.m. at the 2300 block of 20th Street Northeast—her mother faces charges of murder, felonious assault, and domestic violence while her stepfather is charged with obstructing justice. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The 37th annual Stark County Italian-American Festival was held on July 11 at Kent State University Stark, where locals enjoyed bocce ball, live music and food from vendors (photos show families and children at play). SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Stark County’s Ambassadors FC Ohio beat Rochester NY FC 2-1 on July 9 at Malone University when Brandon Trujillo scored a 95th-minute winner. The team, which finished the regular season 7-2-1, will face Flower City Union for the Great Lakes Conference championship match today — with Matt Skladaney scoring the other goal. The Repository
- ➤ Football fans in Canton will see the NFL Flag Championships from July 17 to 20 at Hall of Fame Village — nearly 300 teams and 3,000 players, including eight international teams, will compete in flag football games. The tournament will begin with pool play on July 17, and playoffs and finals are scheduled for July 19 to 20 as organizers look to grow the event in the future. The Repository
- ➤ Fairless’ Collin Sullivan was named Stark County Boys Athlete of the Year for the 2024-25 school year after receiving 54.44% of 6,372 votes cast—he also became his school’s first state champion wrestler and led the football team with 99 tackles and eight sacks. The Repository
