- ➤ Consumers National Bank will open a full-service branch at Millennium Centre downtown Canton this fall and add about four jobs amid several bank closures—its new branch will include a lobby, night depository, and ATM to serve local residents and businesses. The Repository
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A former Stark County doctor from Canton, Yousif Abdulraouf Alhallaq (46) is under federal indictment for naturalization fraud for lying on his citizenship application about trying to poison his pregnant partner in December; he pleaded guilty in 2021, lost his medical license, and is set to be released from Lake Erie Correctional Institution (Aug. 15) while facing up to 10 more years in prison. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City water officials announced Canton will demolish its 100-year-old underground Cromer Reservoir this fall and replace it with a new 7-million-gallon tank to improve water quality and pressure. The project will cost about $14 million, is funded through a 25-year loan from the Ohio Water Supply Revolving Loan Account, and is expected to be completed by December 2026 (serving roughly 41,000 water accounts).
