COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mural Fest returns to downtown Canton with eight new murals that will brighten local buildings+engage local artists and community members, and the event will run on Sept. 27 from noon to 6 p.m. with live music and food trucks while artists paint on various walls throughout September.  The Repository

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chapter 28 of the Ebone Image Makers in Canton will host the 91st annual state convention and trade show for the Ohio Association of Beauticians starting on June 28 with a cabaret at 7 p.m. at Kings of Canton Mothership Connection with $20 admission. The event will continue on July 13 with a prayer breakfast at 8 a.m. and an awards banquet featuring guest speaker Christine Smith and the All-Male Community Choir, and on July 14 with a workshop by Rob Willis and Epress where tickets cost $100 or $50 for students.  The Repository

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local high school graduates in the Akron-Canton area were nominated by their guidance departments as 2025 Star Students, with nominees coming from schools such as Cuyahoga Falls, Cloverleaf, and Canton South — the recognition highlights their academic and personal achievements.  The Repository
  • Joshua JJ Lantz, a 2025 GlenOak graduate named a regional Star Student for his leadership, led tutoring and Bible study programs that connected peers—he will study finance and marketing at Ohio State and join a mission trip to Mexico in June.  The Repository

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cleveland Browns Hall of Famer Joe Thomas said he will visit training camp in late July at the team headquarters in Berea to share advice with offensive lineman Dawand Jones—he hopes to help Jones switch fully to left tackle. Coach Kevin Stefanski said Thomas’s guidance may boost the player’s technique and team performance.  The Repository
