  • The Iron Pickle 5k will cause local road closures on May 30 — streets including the Seventh Street entrance to the Stark County Fairgrounds and Raff Road NW near Mallon Park will be closed from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. while parking is banned from 6 to 10 a.m.  The Repository
  • Andrea Amendola, a talent acquisition manager at Metallus, was named a Twenty under 40! honoree in Stark County for her community leadership and service, and the awards celebration will be held on June 25 at the Cultural Center for the Arts in Canton.  The Repository

  • OG Street Eatz has opened a new brick and mortar location in Perry Township. The business offers a fun vibe and tasty, reasonably priced food to complement its food truck service.  The Repository
  • ABCD Inc. will hold its 53rd annual meeting at 5:30 p.m. on June 25 at the DoubleTree by Hilton on Market Ave. S. The event will feature keynote Marcus T. Johnson and introduce the new CEO, Tomier T. Davenport.  The Repository
  • OFFLINE by Aerie is now open at Belden Village Mall (8,000 sqft) beside Aerie and Center Court; the store brings activewear and loungewear to the area following a trend shift in retail.  The Repository

  • Country music artist Trace Adkins is set to headline the Stark County Fair on Sept. 3 at Ohio Gratings Grandstand as part of his 30th Anniversary Tour. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. May 29 online.  The Repository
  • The 2026 Daughters Zion Arise Women's Conference featuring keynote speakers Rev. Maureen Charles and Nicole Scates-Mackey is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 29 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 30 at Jackson Friends Church (7945 Portage St. NW in Jackson Twp.).  The Repository

HEALTH NEWS

  • Massillon posted 16 new 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline signs at parks and shopping centers Tuesday, May 26 to raise awareness for 24-hour mental health support. The city partnered with Stark County groups and is exploring similar efforts in neighboring communities (including Canton).  The Repository

  • New head coach Todd Monken is using his college coaching background — former Georgia coordinator — to help the Browns develop a young roster as OTAs began on May 26. He plans to maximize two hour workouts to build readiness for the mandatory minicamp.  The Repository
  • Winking Lizard Tavern (a chain with 15 locations serving Akron, Canton, and Cleveland) was named the nation’s best sports bar by USA TODAY Sports Readers’ Choice Awards on Tuesday, May 26 at 11:15 a.m. It beat chains such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Dave and Buster's for the top honor.  The Repository
