- ➤ Two charitable funds at Stark Community Foundation awarded over $30K in grants to local nonprofits, plus the awards will support projects that improve health services, youth dance programs, shelter security and food distribution in Massillon. Recipients include Access Health for a community health worker and Canton Ballet for a 16-week free dance class program for local youth. The Repository

- ➤ Country singer Dwight Yoakam will headline a concert at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Sept. 25 — presale tickets are available today at 10 a.m. and general tickets on May 23 at the box office at 1101 Market Ave. N in downtown Canton. The Repository

- ➤ The Canton City Schools Board renamed the indoor baseball training facility at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium to the John (JR) Rinaldi Training Center on May 12 to honor a longtime board member who helped bring Bulldogs baseball to the stadium. The more than $5 million upgrades turned the stadium into a hub for community events and school activities. The Repository

- ➤ Memorial Day will fall on Monday, May 26th and cause banks, postal services except Priority Mail, stock markets, FedEx + UPS to be closed and garbage pickup in Canton to be delayed while grocery stores remain open and stormy weather may disrupt plans as many workers take the day off to honor fallen soldiers. - ➤ Stark County high school sports reported results from May 19-24; in softball, Hoover shut out Magnificat, in baseball North Royalton edged Hoover and Lake beat Cloverleaf, and Malvern secured two track district titles.
