  • Stark Parks released a new 10‐year plan prioritizing park development — including enhanced trail connections and accessibility — to serve local residents. The plan aims to boost parks and outdoor spaces in our community.  The Repository
  • Historic Downtown Canal Fulton dedicated a mural and launched Tarrah's Torch Foundation on May 16 to honor Tarrah Hale (a champion for community inclusion), and the new nonprofit will support sensory-friendly events and accessibility improvements for families.  The Repository
  • Memorial Day parades and ceremonies will take place across Stark County with Canton’s event scheduled for 10 a.m. May 25 at Timken Career Campus (preregistration is required) and concluding at the McKinley Presidential Library.  The Repository

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Sheetz will open its newest Stark County location at 4000 Lincoln St. E. in Canton Township on May 21 at 9 a.m.—with giveaways, free self-serve coffee and soda, $250 gift cards, and donation checks for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and Special Olympics of Ohio.  The Repository

CULTURE NEWS

  • COMPASS, a teen pop band from Jackson Township, will perform new songs with the Canton Symphony on May 21 + the siblings will debut fresh original material for local fans.  The Repository

SPORTS NEWS

  • Local college athlete Rachel Baker from Slippery Rock was named PSAC Pitcher of the Year after posting a 15-9 record and three shutouts this spring. Other Stark-area players, including Allie Hartnett and Sean Kavanagh, earned league honors in lacrosse, softball, and baseball+ marking a season of strong local performances.  The Repository
  • The Northern Ohio PGA will donate 132 sets of clubs to high school programs in 22 districts to help reduce economic barriers in golf, marking the sixth year of Clubs Fore Kids and following a coach certification day at Westfield Country Club (each set costs about $350 to $450).  The Repository
