- ➤ The 13th annual Operation: Flags of Freedom Memorial Day service will be held at Perry High School on May 23 at 9 a.m. More than 300 U.S. flags will be up from May 22 through the weekend, and volunteers are needed at the school and Calvary Cemetery (supporting local veterans). The Repository
- ➤ Elaine Sukosd Park opened in Osnaburg Township (at 1600 Broadway Ave. NE) yesterday as the community’s first public park; the site features a gravel trail loop, lighting and grass funded by a $150,000 state grant, and trustees plan more improvements with a dedication ceremony scheduled for June. - ➤ The Eyes of Freedom traveling memorial featuring oil portraits honoring 23 military members will be on display from May 19 to 22 in room M100 at Stark State College, with an opening ceremony set for 10 a.m. May 19 and a veterans resource fair planned for May 21.
