- ➤ Exterior waterslide pieces are visible from Interstate 77 at the future water park in the Hall of Fame Village (the project resumed work this year after funding paused) and the 140,000-sqft facility with 90,000 sqft of wet attractions is expected to complete in spring. The Repository
- ➤ Former Canton resident Rev. Tim Spurrier, 71, died in Guatemala on March 29; he founded Hospital Shalom and two rural clinics to provide care for those in need, and his family held a memorial service on May 9 at Faith Family Church (Jackson Township) as they pledged to continue his mission. - ➤ Mount Union women’s lacrosse lost in a first-round NCAA game on May 9 in Salisbury, Maryland, with a 21-5 score, while the baseball and softball teams, after recent tournament losses, will learn their NCAA selections on May 11. The Repository
- ➤ Malone University's men's and women's track and field teams won the NCCAA Outdoor Championships on May 8 in Wilmore, Kentucky. The men's team claimed its second straight title while the women earned their first win since 2009. The Repository
