- ➤ On Wednesday night, Deborah J. Helm (61) was appointed to the West Branch Local Board of Education to fill the vacancy left by Aaron Hawk, who resigned on April 16 for family reasons. Helm brings 30 years of experience from Crandall Medical Center and is a local graduate with all her children having attended West Branch High School, and she was chosen among eight applicants. - ➤ Denise Seachrist will retire on June 30 after a 37-year career leading the Stark and Salem campuses at Kent State. Interim dean James Hannon will take over as Seachrist steps down to focus on family and continue her support for education with new scholarships and a music festival honoring her late husband.
