CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On April 18, the Daughters of Penelope honored 11 high school seniors at the 58th annual Debutantes’ Ball at Alex D. Krassas Event Center, where two debutantes received $1,000 scholarships and committee chair Marcia Bournelis led the celebration of local Greek heritage. The Repository
- ➤ On April 30, Marlboro Township Historical Society unveiled a new exhibit featuring a Civil War-era U.S. flag (which once flew over Marlboro Square). The display honors an important part of local history. The Repository
- ➤ The All Love Music Festival is set for Aug. 15 at Centennial Plaza in downtown Canton and will feature bands from Northeast Ohio including Apostle Jones and Rellick. The free event offers live music, food trucks & vendors, and aims to boost the local music scene. The Repository
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Canton Museum of Art and Early Childhood Resource Center launch the free nine-month Elevate & Create program that offers monthly art sessions and parenting support for families with children under 3. An art journaling workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 7 at the ECC office with limited space. The Repository
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Ohio residents can receive mifepristone by mail through May 11 as the Supreme Court paused a lower court’s ban while its future remains uncertain amid legal challenges. Planned Parenthood continues offering care with both telehealth and in-person options available. The Repository
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Massillon football got a boost when top athletes Brayton and Brydon Feister transferred from Hoban on May 4 — the brothers have moved here and are expected to strengthen the Tigers as they fill key gaps. The Repository
- ➤ Stark County high school sports had notable results during the week of May 4-10. Louisville's Katelynn Miller pitched a key softball win plus strong baseball showings by Central Catholic and Tuslaw gave fans plenty to cheer plus coaches can send scores to the sports department for future recaps. - ➤ Mount Union women’s lacrosse earned four OAC awards after winning its championship on May 2 and will begin NCAA tournament play on May 9 at 11:30 a.m. in Salisbury, Maryland. The Repository
