  • Diebold Nixdorf reported strong first-quarter revenue of $891.8 million (a 6% increase) and $5.5 million in net income. The global ATM manufacturer maintained its 2026 outlook of $3.86 to $3.94 billion and repurchased $55 million in shares, with plans for additional buybacks.  The Repository

CULTURE NEWS

  • Canton native Kimberle Williams Crenshaw releases her memoir Backtalker, a love letter to her hometown, and will host a book signing and discussion today (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.) at the Canton Museum of Art's Cable Recital Hall with tickets priced at $55.20.  The Repository
  • The Lincoln Highway Comedy Fest kicked off at Krackpots Comedy Club in Massillon on Thursday, Apr. 30 and will run through Saturday, May 3 while featuring over 50 comedians, including headliners Keith Lenhart performing today and Bernice Ye on May 3.   • The Mugshot Collection art exhibition opens today at Second April Studios in downtown Canton during First Friday — featuring reimagined mug shots of celebrities including Marilyn Monroe and Justin Bieber curated by local attorney Todd Bergert.  The Repository

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Drivers in Eastern Stark County paid $4.99 per gallon at local gas stations yesterday, and some expect prices to rise to $6 before June because of ongoing supply concerns (which could affect fuel and grocery costs).  The Repository
  • Today, gas prices are rising in Northeast Ohio with a Sunoco in Lakewood listing fuel at $4.99 and the Canton-Massillon area averaging $4.61, while AAA reports state averages now at $4.46. Drivers should note these changes when planning their local trips.  WKYC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jackson Local Schools board approved a multi-year leadership transition plan on April 30; Superintendent Chris DiLoreto will retire effective July 31 and high school Principal Matt Ziders will become superintendent on Aug. 1, 2027 to keep operations steady.  The Repository

  • Siblings Rebecca Gibson and Ralph Slawter unexpectedly reunited after more than a decade apart when Ralph relocated from Florida in January to join his sister at Sprenger Health Rose Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson Township (they now share daily moments together).  The Repository
