  • Community events in Stark County offer a range of activities, including Aultman Hospital’s Angel Auction on May 9 at the Memorial Civic Center to fund surgical suite improvements, a Parkinson’s support group meeting on May 8 in Jackson Twp, and a Motorcycle Rally for Safety on Friday at Bair’s Powersport—along with a veteran breakfast on May 23 at MAPS Air Museum, a suicide prevention symposium on May 28 at Kent State Stark’s Conference Center, a 5K race on May 18 in Louisville, concerts in Massillon, a maypole program in North Canton, and children's fishing events on May 12 and May 31 in Perry Township and Canton, respectively.  The Repository

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire at 415 11th St. NW on Sunday caused residents to be trapped on the second and third floors when a man jumped from a third story window, with fire crews rescuing two individuals for smoke inhalation plus declaring the building uninhabitable.  FOX 8

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Surgeon Nathan Hieb—who works at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital—opened The Mayflower tea and coffee shop at 1117 Wertz Ave NW, giving Canton residents a new local spot for drinks.  The Repository

FINANCE NEWS

  • Lottery officials said the winning numbers 1, 12, 14, 18, 69 and Powerball 2 brought prizes to thousands of Ohio winners from the drawing held Saturday, April 27 in Kentucky — the grand prize includes a cash option of $77.3 million. They noted the jackpot now resets to $20 million with a cash option of $9.2 million as the next drawing is set for tonight at 10:59 p.m.  WKYC
