- ➤ Former Canton schoolteacher Dorothy Jane Burdge served the U.S. Red Cross during World War II—she brought comfort with hot coffee and doughnuts to soldiers after landing on Utah Beach. She died on May 1, 1945 when her plane crashed over Germany due to mechanical failure and is honored at the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten. The Repository

- ➤ Canton-area high school seniors will celebrate graduation ceremonies from May 15th with Minerva to June 1st with Marlington—schedules at other local schools provide set times and venues in Stark County. The Repository

- ➤ On April 25, the Browns drafted Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel in the third round and also picked linebacker Carson Schwesinger, running back Quinshon Judkins, and Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr.—moves that show GM Andrew Berry is balancing the team’s current needs with future plans.
