CULTURE NEWS

  • A Canton interfaith group from Christ Presbyterian Church and Temple Israel visited the Holocaust exhibit 'Auschwitz. Not Long Ago. Not Far Away' at the Cincinnati Museum Center on April 25. They said the display served as a moving lesson in remembering history (a clear sign of community commitment).  The Repository

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Consumers’ Counsel asked the utility regulator for a full hearing on transmission charges after AEP Ohio passed additional costs to customers + PUCO has 150 days to decide if data centers should pay their fair share while households already face higher bills.  The Repository

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Lung Association released its 27th annual report for Stark and Summit counties yesterday; Stark received a C (air pollution) and F (particle pollution) while Summit earned a D and C, warning that weakened EPA standards and climate change heighten health risks in the region.  The Repository

  • Perry's Liston Seibert missed the end of wrestling season due to a knee infection — he plans to return to vaulting soon.  The Repository
  • Hoover pole vaulter Joey Smart, still recovering from back and hip injuries incurred during the indoor season, is working on his comeback and may compete again soon — a promising step for his athletic career.  The Repository
  • The Browns drafted Alabama linebacker Justin Jefferson with the 149th pick in the NFL Draft on April 25. The 6-foot-1 & 223-pound player recorded 79 tackles and three sacks last season and is expected to serve multiple roles for the team.  The Repository
