  • Stewart’s Caring Place is set to celebrate the 20th Hope Walk on May 2 with two events — one starting at 8:30 a.m. at Sippo Lake Park in Perry Township and another at 10 a.m. at the Cancer Wellness Center in Fairlawn — to support those affected by cancer. Registration is open.  The Repository

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local company G & D Fab (run by Gordon and Dylan Loader) has finished assembling a 170-ton tunnel boring shield on a concrete pad behind its Southway Street shop in Perry Township for the $16 billion Hudson Tunnel Project; the shield will be trucked to New York and reassembled underground.  The Repository

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A portion of Ninth Street NW, from Market Ave N to Cleveland Ave NW, will close from 3:30 to 9 p.m. on April 24 for the EN-RICH-MENT Arts Education Center's multi-day HBCU-style event at 901 Market Ave N, which will feature history and high-energy performances.  The Repository

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Stark County Bar Association will hold Law Week events April 27 through May 1, with a televised Ask-A-Lawyer segment on April 22 in Massillon (2 Duncan Plaza), a moot court competition on April 27 in Canton, and a student awards ceremony and luncheon on April 29 in Jackson Township.  The Repository

SPORTS NEWS

  • Dean Wade delivered a near-perfect defense against Raptors’ Brandon Ingram in Game 1, helping the Cavs to a 126-113 win on April 20. Coach Kenny Atkinson praised Wade as a key part of the team’s playoff push.  The Repository
  • Former Walsh University forward Brayden Gross committed to play Division I basketball at Northern Illinois after entering the transfer portal, and former Mount Union guard Chance Casenhiser joined Division II program Eckerd College in Florida following their last season.
