  • Detective Danielle Paciorek was honored on April 14 by Perry township trustees for her Community Police Officer of the Year award; the 10-year veteran, joined by her daughter Madison, was recognized for her leadership in community programs (school career days and the Chief for a Day initiative).  The Repository
  • Local residents can enjoy a weekend of events: Record Store Day on April 18 offers discounts and live music at record stores in Canton and elsewhere, while a model car contest runs at Tuslaw Middle School (1723 Manchester Ave NW). Later, shows, art exhibits, plus poetry readings extend into May.  The Repository

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Columbia Gas announced that its Standard Choice Offer customers will see a drop in natural gas bills by about $1 per MCF starting this month after January’s state auction set lower prices. Customers can review supplier details on their bills + return to the program if they had opted out.  WKYC
  • Waynesburg’s Cibo’s Restaurant, a longstanding Italian eatery in a former movie theater at 134 W. Lisbon St. that has served the community since 1971, is listed for sale at $349,000. The sale includes property, inventory, recipes and licenses, and owner Jim Fragasse said he is ready to slow down.  The Repository
  • 7-Eleven will close 645 North American stores during its 2026 fiscal year due to softer consumer spending and inflation and will open 205 new venues; it is not yet clear which of its 517 Ohio stores will shut down (some may keep gas station operations).  The Repository
