- ➤ Stark Housing Network Inc. and Homeless Continuum of Care of Stark County are working to reduce rising homelessness using a model that prioritizes stable housing before adding supports—such as job training and mental health care—and they manage $5 million in HUD funds. They plan to streamline hotline response times and strengthen workforce development to offer faster help to residents. The Repository
- ➤ Cam Fernandez—volunteering since October—helps restock dry and frozen goods for local families at the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. His supervisor said 320 people were served on April 7—part of efforts that have provided nearly 13 million meals so far. The Repository

- ➤ Canton Police Department is inviting the public to join its seven-week Citizens Academy, which meets every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Thomas Wyatt Training Academy from May 1 through June 5 and features a police dog demonstration and lessons on police operations. Graduation will be held at 3 p.m. on June 11 at the We Believe in Canton event at Edward 'Peel' Coleman Community Center and Crenshaw Park—applications must be submitted by Friday. The Repository
