COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Louisville High woodshop students used their skills to build two blessing boxes in a partnership with the Stark Blessing Box Initiative—these boxes will provide essential items to neighbors in need. The project shows how hands-on learning supports community aid and builds on local efforts to reduce food insecurity.  The Repository

  • Mint & Lily is hosting a Mother’s Day jewelry sale in Canton where if you buy two pieces you get one free. The shop offers custom items like letter necklaces and birthstone charms crafted with quality materials for moms.  The Repository

CULTURE NEWS

  • Friends of Ohio Barns will host the 24th annual Ohio Barn Conference in Stark County from April 24 through 26 to celebrate Ohio's historic barns with tours of five barns including one that has a deed signed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison and presentations on barn restoration and agriculture history. Registrations end on April 22 and the event will include a barn bus tour on April 25 with lunch and full-day educational sessions on the final day at East Canton.  The Repository

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 4, Washington High School hosted the Outstanding Senior Boy and Miss Massillonian Formal Ceremony where candidates including Cale Bishop and Francesca Hatheway were introduced, and judges oversaw the event (photos captured key moments).  The Repository

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Voters in Canton can vote early by mail or in person starting Tuesday for the May 6th primary election in Canton, Massillon and Alliance. The ballot will include local contests and statewide measures—such as a public works funding plan, a replacement Children Services levy and a North Canton income tax increase proposal.  The Repository

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Cavaliers will face the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night at Rocket Arena as they try to secure the No. 1 seed in the East. A win over the Kings or a loss by the Boston Celtics to the Wizards will give the team home-court advantage while guard Ty Jerome is expected to play and forward Dean Wade remains questionable.  The Repository
