CULTURE NEWS

  • Main Street Modern in Canton will open its season on April 5 featuring mid-century modern furniture and retro fashion (local vendors will display curated vintage pieces) to offer a unique experience for local collectors.  The Repository
  • Today, downtown Canton hosts a fire themed First Friday event from 5 to 9:30 p.m. with fire dancers and jugglers while food trucks serve local favorites—Patina Arts Centre has closed its downtown gallery at 324 Cleveland Ave; additional events this week include Canton Symphony Orchestra’s Journey pops concert Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Canton Ballet’s Cinderella at the Palace Theatre, the Massillon Museum’s Sight Unseen exhibit through May 18, and a book signing by local musician Scott Paris in Massillon.  The Repository

ECONOMY NEWS

  • New vehicle sales in northern Ohio rose 7.75% in March to 19,697 as shoppers rushed ahead of tariffs—Chevrolet led with 2,954 vehicles while used car sales dropped 7.82% from last year.  The Repository

SPORTS NEWS

  • Brent McBurney retired from coaching Perry High School wrestling after 20 years and led his teams to a 133-33 record and 12 league championships—he was honored as state Coach of the Year in 2024. Perry will begin its search for a new coach—more details will follow soon.  The Repository
  • Massillon released its 2025 football schedule showing nine home games at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium this fall, with one away game against McKinley (at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Oct. 25) and matchups against five out-of-state opponents (from Ga, N.Y., Canada, Mo., and Texas). The Tigers will also face local teams Glenville, GlenOak, St. Edward and Warren Harding as they build on last season's 11-3 record.  The Repository
