- ➤ Chipotle will open a new restaurant near Jackson High School on vacant land in the 5400 block of Wales Avenue NW, located between the BP gas station & Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital; permits are approved and construction may begin soon. The Repository
- ➤ SA Recycling employees in Canton Township voted 28-12 on March 5 to decertify their union at the 3101 Varley Ave. SW plant; the National Labor Relations Board certified the result on March 19 after a petition by worker Leslie Frase spurred the vote. The Repository
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Visitors in Canton can explore the McKinley Presidential Museum and Library where animatronic figures and artifacts bring William McKinley’s legacy to life; the museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Kennedy’s Bar-B-Que offers nearby classic smoked meals (seating limited). - ➤ The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum in Canton received a $14,293 grant from the Ohio History Connection for its upcoming exhibit Legacy Revived: Exploring Stark County's Rich Black History, which will feature oral histories, an exhibit catalog & podcast and is set to launch later this year. - ➤ Sister Roberta Doneth will present 'Discover the Story of the San Damiano Cross' tomorrow from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 1520 11th St. SE; the free program includes light refreshments & explores the cross's symbolism for the faithful. The Repository

- ➤ Canton City Council honored Lt. Col. Gerald Zachary on March 23 for his 36-year service as a police officer and National Guard member; his final retirement from the Guard is set for March 31. He was recognized for saving lives and serving as a school resource officer. The Repository

- ➤ Vinny DeMando, 8, is facing new mobility challenges as his Duchenne muscular dystrophy worsens, prompting his family to launch a fundraiser for home and vehicle modifications.
