- ➤ On March 17th, three first responders were honored during the St. Patrick's Day Blue Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church by the Canton Council Knights of Columbus Council 341. Deputy Cheyenne Urbach, Officer Judi Solly and retired firefighter/paramedic Eric Stokes received Blue Coat Awards for going above the call of duty—an annual event that celebrated their service to the community. - ➤ After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on March 17, Forever 21 will wind down its U.S. operations and close its Ohio stores — including Belden Village Mall in Canton — as the company holds liquidation sales to sell off remaining inventory and may modify its plan if a sale is secured. - ➤ FirstEnergy restored power for nearly 70,000 customers who lost electricity over the weekend—by Monday, only about 15 customers remained without power. In Brunswick, strong winds knocked down 17 poles on one street, and police closed the road to keep people safe. WKYC
- ➤ Kohl's is testing a change that stops accepting Amazon returns in select stores—located in Massachusetts, Missouri, Washington and Wisconsin—after planning to close underperforming locations and reduce staff, while Ohio stores remain unchanged. - ➤ Ohio food banks are serving more people than ever as high inflation makes food harder to afford. One food bank helped nearly 425000 people last year—while proposed state cuts and new tariffs may raise food prices and impact local farmers. WKYC

- ➤ The Stark Community Foundation is offering many college scholarships for students in Stark and Carroll counties for the 2025-2026 academic year—applications for most awards are due by April 1. Students must complete an online application that requires a FAFSA Student Aid Report, school transcript and two reference emails—scholarships last year exceeded $775,000 to support local education. - ➤ More than 85,000 rainbow trout have been released at 90 locations in Ohio as part of a statewide stocking program that began last week and will continue through May. In Stark county—Petros Lake in Perry Township is set to be stocked on March 26 and both Stadium Park and Monument Park in Canton are scheduled for March 31. The Repository

- ➤ The University of Mount Union’s Regula Center will honor Stark County officials Joe French and Alan Harold with service awards on April 8 at noon at Alliance Country Club—Joe French will receive the Mary Regula Award for Community Service and Alan Harold will receive the Ralph Regula Award for Public Service.
