- ➤ Canton native Joshua Poole, who spent 25 years in humanitarian aid overseas, has partnered with CommQuest to raise funds for local food agencies and will soon start a 2,197-mile hike along the Appalachian Trail. His family will visit him on the trek in September (honoring his late father). The Repository
- ➤ Canton Woman's Club will host a Mother's Day Tea and Luncheon at 822 Market Ave. N on May 9 with Michael Sonata performing a Frank Sinatra tribute; tickets cost $35 via prepaid reservations due by April 20 and parking is free as proceeds support maintenance of the 1867 Victorian-era clubhouse. - ➤ The Perry History Club will meet with Perry Police Department Chief Bryan Taylor at 6 p.m. March 16 at the old Genoa Schoolhouse. The club will serve an all-you-can-eat breakfast on March 21 at Richville United Church of Christ. The Repository

- ➤ A state study found that children living near the former Republic Steel site in Canton may have faced lead exposure risks before the plant closed in 2023.
