- ➤ Macy's will close 14 stores in 2026 as part of its Bold New Chapter strategy but no Ohio locations are slated for closure (two Ohio stores closed in 2025 in Beavercreek and Toledo). The retailer is investing in its 18 local stores. The Repository
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The state will begin relocating residents from the House of Loreto nursing home at 2812 Harvard Ave NW after a Stark County judge approved an emergency court order on Jan. 14; a Department of Health transition team will assist though a relocation schedule has not been set. The Repository
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Former McKinley coach Antonio Hall was approved as Solon’s head football coach and athletic director on Jan. 14. The 43-year-old, who led McKinley to playoff success (including a 41-20 win over Solon), will now lead Solon’s team. The Repository
- ➤ Mount Union’s Bill Borchert and Nate Kmic and Akron’s Steve Cockerham learned (between 2 and 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 during ESPN's College Football Live) if they made the College Football Hall of Fame’s 2026 class; they will be inducted on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas. The Repository
