- ➤ Georgia DiPietro was honored at the 20th annual Pizza Oven Charities fundraising dance held on Jan. 9 at Canton Memorial Civic Center & the event raised over $800,000 for the Canton Ex-Newsboys Association. The Repository
- ➤ On Jan. 10, Kathy Andrews, mother of pro basketball players C.J. and Errick McCollum, partnered with Goodr to provide free groceries for 500 Stark County families. The event brought essential support to local residents. The Repository

- ➤ Hall of Fame Village will close Gridiron Gastropub on Jan. 31 as it prepares to reopen with a new restaurant concept that supports future plans under new private ownership. Guests holding gift cards should redeem them before the closing. The Repository
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Plain Township Fire and Rescue and Plain Local Schools have partnered for 24 years on a fire science program at GlenOak High School — high school students earn college credits and skills through hands-on training at Stark State College and local fire stations. The Repository
- ➤ The Fairless Local Schools Board of Education approved a project to replace 1984 lighting and unsafe visitor seating at Fred Brideweser Stadium, addressing safety issues with permanent improvement funds. Work will start soon and finish this spring (totaling over $800,000 in upgrades). The Repository

- ➤ Newton Family Apartments, a 52-unit affordable housing complex replacing the former Canton Inn with family-focused features, will be completed by February in the Shorb neighborhood, a $21 million project funded by public & private sources through Canton For All People; leasing will begin in the spring.
